Poof and it appears!

When we decided we wanted to do everything by hand, I knew yard sales, estate sales and auctions were in our very near future. With only 2 we have been too and the finds in the boxes in our garage that are my mothers we have everything we need to make everything now! We literally spent less than $100 for all out supplies and organizational materials for all our DIY projects and my lovely mother already owned a sewing machine and serger!

As of yesterday we have turned our dining room into our wedding craft spot and love this feeling of personalization in our future! :)

Small storage for all our pencils pens and markers! Oh and I found my grandmothers vintage stamp holder to boot!

Found this full of thread and fabric at a warehouse estate sale jam packed for only $5! I have since added to, but within the fabric stuffed inside we found a small necklace container with a $5 silver certificate inside!

I do believe we have enough thread now! :)

Loving these Martha Stewart die cuts and the small trinkets set to go on our save the dates!

Must have a few stamps to bring the projects to life!

More sewing items!

You can never have enough paper supplies or cards handy!

Supplies for up and coming projects!

Another storage set full too!

You'll notice the chalkboard paint and silver platter :) Can't wait to show you guys that project!!!

So here's to happy crafting for us and beyond excited to share each step of the way with you all!

Heart Accents DIY #1

I am extremely excited about this blog because it is our very first DIY (do it yourself) completed and I'm so amazed how truly perfect these turned out!

Recently I downloaded the craftgawker application (craftgawker.com) to my phone to find so many amazing ideas for crafts for the wedding and life in general. Our goal is to make everything handmade/homemade for the wedding that is physically possible to add our personal touch and to make our day memorable.

This first project was a small task that turned awkward almost immediately however I managed to cut out and complete over 200 of these last night. I'll call them the Heart Memos to be tied delicately around our Save The Dates. (that DYI will come next week or so)

What you will need:
• A book you can reuse, preferably one falling apart or in our case we purchased from an estate sale
•Glue Stick
•Medium heart die cutter
•Cardstock color paper to match colors
•1/16th inch hole punch
•scissors

Approximately 1 hour to complete

First you want to go through the book you have chosen and find words or phrases pertaining to you, your fiancé, or your wedding. In our case we used a dictionary and found all the words that make us and our families. Use extreme caution if using a dictionary! Always look both ways like your mama taught you and here is an example as to why!

I wanted the word laughter but it appears that an extremely inappropriate word was so very close!

We will be using hemp twine to position these around our Save The Dates!

{Engagement Photos}

Hello!  We actually received our engagement proofs today and so very excited!  Eli Murray took them, and they are exactly what we had hoped for and so much more!  We can not wait to share them with all of you!  This is the first time in a long time for both of us that a professional photographer took our pictures, and truly it is so very important to the both of us that we photograph this time in our lives to share with all of you!

Eli Murray is an established wedding photographer here in Little Rock.  I found his work online when I first moved to Little Rock in July 2009, and have followed him for quite sometime, and truly his photography is breath taking.  Just click his name in this post to check his site out, and if you click client log in you can actually view our pictures there!

We will begin checking out venues very soon.  I know the spring time can tend to fill up dates at venues fairly quickly, so we have a list and will begin our journey shortly!  We are going to be doing many DIY projects, including our message board (in place of a guest book) and our save the dates as well as our invitations.

So many exciting things to share with you, but up first, very shortly, is our engagement photos!

Love,
R and J

19 Days Left to Vote!

Family and Friends,

Jamie and I have entered this contest for a chance to win $100,000 for the wedding of our dreams with a celebrity wedding designer from Crate and Barrel! This is so exciting, but short notice, and will only take you 2 seconds to vote.  Simply click the link below which will take you to our page on their website and click vote.  One vote per person, and please pass along to all you know!  We need at least 3000 votes in the next 20 days to be in the top 100 that will go to a judging panel and winner will be announced in June 2011!

This is very exciting as an opportunity to not just have the wedding of our dreams, but also have ALL of our friends and family in attendance as this will help with travel accommodations for those near and far!

Thank you for your vote and keep passing along, we don't usually ask for something as such but this would truly be such a blessing for not only us, but for the memories we hope to share with everyone in March 2012!

Love you all!
R and J

363 Days

On February 19 2011 I needed to run to the mall to pick up an outfit for an up and coming meeting.  With April coming up, as I work together with other families to host a National event, new business suit was truly needed.  Once we got to the mall, Jamie and I parted ways as I went to the nearest Dillards womans section and Jamie darted off to what he said was to Game Stop.

A while longer, I came back with business outfit in hand, Jamie came back with a bag and we headed out to the car as we had to start heading to work.  We got in the car, I reached down and put the car in reverse, and suddenly Jamie put the car back in park and began to grab my hands.  He then proceeded to tell me what our relationship means to him, where we started, where we are, and where he hopes our relationship will grow.  He also stated all the reasons why I am perfect for him, and proceeded to ask my hand in marriage.

Very exciting time! Coming from a girl who thought that marriage would never prevail in her future, let alone be presented with the love of her life, was not only excited, but tears of JOY and happyness filled my eyes when I said "YES!".

Our countdown of 365 days began March 10, 2011.  We have set our Wedding Date for March 10, 2012 and we have created this blog to share our journey to the alter with all of our friends and family, and are hoping to do many DIY projects! Thank you for stopping by, and for sharing this special time with us!

Love,
R and J
